Spring is here, and this year the Goat Hill Giving Garden (Downtown, across from the Chinook Building) is expanding. We are adding 4 new raised beds, connecting to city water, and installing drip irrigation with automated timers. Have you ever dreamed about having a ½ acre of land in Downtown Seattle to grow fruits and vegetables? This is your opportunity to garden and give to those in need.
We’re looking for 2-3 motivated gardeners/urban farmers to join our team of garden managers. Applicants should have some gardening experience and a passion for sustainable giving gardens. New garden managers will work alongside 3 existing managers to design, plan, and implement sustainable gardening techniques to maximize yields. Let us know if you’re interested in becoming a manager.
Not interested in managing the garden? Here are other ways you can get involved:
- Help us with watering; let us know if want to join the team.
- Join us for planting, and harvesting. Subscribe to our newsletter to get information about work parties.
- Volunteer to lead a class at the garden and share your expertise. We hold classes 2-4 times a month during the planting season.
All harvested produce is donated to the Pike Market Senior Center providing hot meals to our neighbors in need. Since we started the garden, we’ve donated nearly a ton of produce to the Center.
We hope you’ll join us in the garden!
