One of my very, very favorite things in the world are books. The most indulgent weekend for me is to hike somewhere remote and spend a few days just reading and reading. The trick is, though, to have the right reading material. Because, of course, not all books are equal.
This year, I read a few books that will remain on my favorite list for a long time:
1. The Girl with the Dragon Tatoo by Steig Larsen. (read the trilogy) I saw the movie and so thought that I didn’t need to read the books – WRONG. The books were fantastic, and I could not put them down. His other two books: The Girl who Played with Fire, The Girl who kicked the Hornets Nest.
2. Nothing to Envy: Ordinary Lives in North Korea by Barbara Demick This was an amazing, eye opening view into the lives of those who live in North Korea. I felt much more educated about the world after reading this book.
3. Unbroken: A World War II Story of Survival, Resilience, and Redemption by Laura Hillenbrand A true story written by a brilliant story teller. If you have not read this story, you must!
What are your favorite reads of this year? We would love to hear them!
