Onsite employee flu and COVID-19 vaccine clinics a success

It is always important to stay up to date on your flu and COVID-19 vaccinations. As we enter the winter months and COVID-19 continues to evolve, it is especially important to ensure successful protection against viral infections. King County believes in providing access to recommended vaccinations for employees and hosted onsite flu and COVID-19 vaccine clinics from September 18 – November 13.

King County and Balanced You are happy to see the success of the clinics. There were 34 individual clinics hosted at 26 different locations to provide a broad range of access to employees that are living and working throughout the region. There were also new clinic site locations this year including Black River: KSCO/AFIS/Assessments; Columbia City Center for Health; and the Environmental Lab.

Both the total number of flu and COVID-19 shots that were administered increased compared to last year’s numbers. 1,022 flu shots and 260 updated COVID vaccines were administered.

One of the main goals of hosting these clinics was to provide easy and quick access to employees since we know everyone is busy with work and their personal lives. The clinics were run very smoothly, and staff were able to get employees through quickly — in about two minutes for employees that were pre-registered and about eight minutes for people that registered on-site.

“I really like the customer service of this new group. They are really nice and did a great job,” said one King County employee.

“The registration process was easy, and it was fast to get in and out,” said another employee.

If you were not able to make it to one of the onsite clinics then you can still get vaccinated at pharmacies, clinics, and community events. Check with your healthcare provider or clinic to ensure they have the latest vaccine or check the list of pharmacies and other locations on Vaccines.gov. There are many ways Public Health – Seattle & King County is offering the updated COVID-19 vaccine to community members, including at a Vaccination Center in Kent, in-home for people with conditions making it difficult to leave, at School Based Health Centers, and at pop-up community events.
