It’s summertime in the Pacific Northwest and it is a busy time to travel. It is important that you understand your benefits and know where to access care when you’re away from home. Here are some tips to help you plan before your next trip.
In the case of an emergency, everyone, regardless of your health plan, should call 911 or visit the emergency room of the closest hospital facility.
Regence members:
Download the Regence App: Before any vacation or business trip, you should sign in at regence.com (create an account) or download the Regence app to review their benefits. An account gives you easy access to your health plan while away from home.
Finding care: To find in-network doctors, hospitals or clinics in the U.S. , members should use Find a Doctor (for domestic doctors only) when signed in on regence.com or the Regence app. You can also call 1-800-810-BLUE 24 hours a day, 7 days a week.
Access virtual care: Regular and Transit ATU employees and family members can access Doctor on Demand in the U.S. for primary care or urgent care needs from a smartphone. To get started, download the Doctor on Demand app from Google Play or the App Store and register on your smartphone. You’ll need to type in your Regence member ID number to register.
Traveling internationally: Blue Cross Blue Shield Global® Core connects you with health care professionals, hospitals and medical assistance when traveling or living outside the United States. It’s a good idea to call Regence Customer Service to review your international coverage before you travel out of the country.
Kaiser Permanente members:
Access virtual care: You have access to virtual care 24/7 and can talk to a Kaiser Permanente (KP) clinician by phone or online.You should sign in here to see your available virtual care options.
Use your digital ID card: Members should download Kaiser Permanente’s mobile app to access KP care on the go.
Traveling in the U.S.: You have many ways to get care — anywhere in the U.S. When you travel to another Kaiser Permanente area, you can usually get the same routine and specialty care you’d get at home. Explore care in KP areas.
Access care out of KP areas: You’re covered for 24/7 virtual care anywhere in the U.S. And outside Kaiser Permanente states, you may be able to pay your usual copay or coinsurance for in-person urgent care at other providers — no need to file a claim for reimbursement later. Explore care outside of KP areas.
Traveling internationally: You’re covered for prescription refills anywhere in the world. Learn more here. If you ever need immediate care when traveling internationally, go to the nearest medical facility. You’ll have to pay upfront for your care and submit a claim for reimbursement later.
