Are you living with asthma, diabetes, high blood pressure, heart disease, depression, chronic pain, arthritis, or any other long-term health condition? If you are a King County benefits-eligible employee or covered spouse/partner, consider whether one of the free online or in-person Living Well Workshops might be right for you.
Living Well Workshops are available both online and in person. Each workshop lasts 6 weeks, using trained peer facilitators, guided lessons, and group discussions. Groups of about 16 people with various health conditions participate together. It’s a proven program that’s designed to help people gain confidence in better managing their health and maintain active, full lives.
The Living Well Workshops are among your Individual Action Plan choices in the 2017 Healthy Incentives program. To complete the Individual Action Plan, complete at least four of six sessions by July 31, 2017.
The online workshop, called Better Choices Better HealthTM, offers sessions which are highly interactive. You’ll log in at your own convenience – there is no requirement that participants log in at the same time. You can participate anytime and anywhere you have internet access.
King County employees who participated last year reported high levels of satisfaction. Many said they especially liked the spirit of camaraderie and the mutual support of fellow participants. They also talked about learning new skills, such as techniques for goal setting and stress reduction. Participants also liked the convenience of being able to participate at their own pace, on their own schedule.
The online workshop is open to both KingCareSM (Regence) and Group Health members. To learn more, visit the Healthy Incentives Living Well Workshops Individual Action Plan page.
In-person Living Well Workshops are also available at various Group Health clinic locations. Group Health members have priority for the in-person sessions, but KingCare (Regence) members are welcome on a space available basis. The workshop schedule and information about how to register is found here.
