Keep cool with cold press!

A favorite summer beverage of mine for hot summer days is cold press coffee. Ever wait to long to drink your hot brewed coffee and it suddenly tastes bitter when it’s lukewarm or cold? Or try to make iced coffee from regular brewed coffee and it’s just watered down and not that great? Cold press is the solution and it’s super easy to do! Cold press is a technique for making coffee that uses time to brew instead of heat, resulting in coffee that is less acidic.

Things you’ll need:

  • A large container for brewing (a gallon-sized mason jar is perfect)
  • Another large container to strain the coffee into
  • Cheesecloth or a sieve and coffee filter
  • Coarse ground coffee (1  part coffee to 2-3 parts water is a good ratio, but you can vary it based on your preference)
  • Water
  • At least 12 hours

Mix coffee grounds and water in a large container and stir. Let is sit on the counter for at least 12 hours. Strain out the grounds using a sieve lined with a coffee filter (it will be slow, so just do a little at a time, or use cheesecloth (a few layers work best to get all the grounds out) to strain. Keep the coffee in a container in the fridge to have on hand for the week! Add ice, milk or a pinch of sugar to taste. Enjoy!
