Local food, live music, chicken pageant(!) at King County’s 2017 Chomp! Festival

Mark your calendar for August 19; King County’s CHOMP! festival is back for its third annual year!

Chomp! is a free local food, farming, and sustainable living festival held at Marymoor Park on Saturday, August 19 from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. Festivities begin the night before with Dinner in the Park on Friday, August 18 at 6 p.m. (dinner tickets still available).

Chomp!chickenThe day-long Saturday festival includes free live music that begins at 10:30 a.m. with Caspar Babypants and concludes at 4:30 p.m. with Ozomatli. Also performing are the Delvon Lamarr Organ Trio, Honcho Poncho, and Mikey Mike the Rad Scientist.

Festival-goers can check out green living workshops, cooking demonstrations from Tom Douglas’ Hot Stove Society, alternative “tiny homes”, the Hot Sauce Competition, Chicken Pageant, and shop the Chomp! Farmers Market to get a free reusable bag (while supplies last) plus many other fun activities.

CHOMP! supports King County Executive Dow Constantine’s Local Food Initiative by celebrating local farmers, chefs and restaurants using locally sourced food, and organizations specializing in healthy food, sustainability, and social justice. The initiative is aimed at strengthening the local food economy and improving access to healthy, affordable food in underserved communities.
