Balanced You understands this pandemic is stressful. In response, we are creating new tools and resources to support your well-being during this difficult time.
Mindfulness classes have remained popular among employees, so we have decided to expand access to mindfulness resources. As such, Balanced You is pleased to announce a series of free mindfulness videos, developed by Mindfulness Northwest for King County employees.
What is mindfulness?
Mindfulness is the ability to be aware of what is happening in your head at any given moment without getting carried away by it. Practicing mindfulness can reduce stress at work and at home. Click here for a short, animated explanation of mindfulness.
How do I access and use the videos?
The five videos, ranging from two to 14 minutes, are available on-demand so you can practice mindfulness any time that fits your schedule. The videos, located here, will teach you how simple breathing techniques, practicing gratitude, and letting go of that which is outside your control can help you stay more centered and less stressed during this pandemic.
Try watching one of the videos before or after work, or during a break. Or, integrate the videos into team meetings, whether virtual or in-person.
How do I sign up for a mindfulness class?
After watching the videos, visit this blogpost if you are interested in attending one of the free mindfulness classes or workshops available to King County employees. In alignment with social distancing recommendations, all in-person classes have temporarily shifted to online platforms.
